Dear Readers

By J. Andrew Dickenson

A new year has walked out on stage yet again, announcing a new concert series for NYCCGS: The Pro Arte Guitar Series. It’s been a lot of fun for us to put together these concerts - it includes some of the most outstanding players from New York and beyond. In this inaugural season, you’ll find artists such as The Amadeus Guitar Duo, Frederic Hand, David Leisner, Jorge Morel, and Dennis Koster joining us for a potpourri of celebratory concerts that display the guitar in its many versatile voices.

In addition to the Pro Arte Guitar Series, New York has a lot going on in the next few months. Check out the New York Guitar Festival, one of the city’s most established and respected guitar events. There are also concerts at the 92nd St. Y, Merkin Hall, St. Peter’s Church, and many other wonderful locations throughout the city. New York is truly becoming a Mecca for guitar enthusiasts.

This issue of NYlon Review features articles and interviews with many of the guitarists you’ll see around town in the next few months: Amadeus Duo, Manuel Barrueco, Christopher Parkening, Fred Hand, David Leisner, and David Spelman, founder and director of the New York Guitar Festival. I hope you enjoy reading their words.

Thank you for tuning into NYlon Review. See you at the concerts!

Warmly,
J. Andrew Dickenson
