Dear Readers

By J. Andrew Dickenson

Over the last few months, the New York City Classical Guitar Society has been hard at work finding ways to improve the NY guitar community. We have hosted two concerts; held a barbecue; created a lecture series featuring experts speaking about a wide range of topics; redesigned our website to generate a more collective NY atmosphere; and created an advisory board that consists of a plethora of high profile and noteworthy people. It is with great pleasure that we now present our latest contribution: NYlon Review, a quarterly newsletter that features enlightening interviews, provocative insights, critical reviews and informative articles.

This newsletter has been created for people who love guitar. NYCCGS is striving to bring together all advocates of the instrument- performers, composers, amateurs, professionals, students, and listeners who are devoted to the guitar, its beautiful sound and the wonderful versatility it has to offer. I hope you'll find a place for yourself in the Society- we have a wide variety of events and items for your enjoyment. At our events, you'll find a supportive atmosphere and positive environment full of people who love the guitar just as much as you do.

I'd like to thank the following groups of people who have given unending support as we have gotten on our feet this year: The D'Addario Foundation, who have generously contributed to and graciously understood our financial needs; the NYCCGS Executive Board, who have worked long hours to fulfill the goals and aspirations of the Society; the NYCCGS Advisory Board, who have offered invaluable advice and guidance; and finally, you - the readers and general members of the Society, who are the most important factor in this equation. I hope you enjoy our first issue of NYlon, and I look forward to presenting future issues to you.

Warmly,
J. Andrew Dickenson
