Jerald Harscher, author of the upcoming book The Poised Guitarist: What You Need to Know About Your Body, will be giving an introduction to Body Mapping for Guitarists. Body Mapping is a powerful tool that helps guitarists solve persistent problems with pain, injury and limitation. In this short presentation, Jerald will be focusing on the arm structure and the most common misconceptions guitarists have about their arms (including the hands).

Jerald Harscher is a performing guitarist, composer and educator who teaches Body Mapping courses and lessons to help musicians and their students free themselves from vulnerability to injury, pain and limitation. His forthcoming book, The Poised Guitarist: What You Need to Know About Your Body, will contribute in new ways to the foundations of guitar training and the art of guitar performance.

As a guitarist, Jerald studied under Aaron Shearer, Benjamin Verdery, David Leisner, Dmitry Goryachev, Michael Fogler and Richard Provost. He holds an MM in Guitar Performance from Yale University School of Music.

Jerald is a certified teaching member of Andover Educators, a non profit organization of music educators saving, securing and enhancing careers in music with accurate information about the body in movement.

Jerald's presentation will be followed by open playing time for members. NYCCGS Member Events are free and open to all members and first-time guests.
