Event Calendar April 23, 2010 Guitar Plus - Crazy Jane Guitar Plus is in its second season of chamber music concerts with the guitar. This year it is presented by Symphony Space at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater. Both programs in the series are devoted to contemporary music, and each program will feature a premiere of a significant work by a major American composer - George Crumb on April 23 and David Del Tredici on April 29. On April 23, Guitar Plus presents Crazy Jane, a contemporary music group led by David Starobin, with Patrick Mason, baritone, and Daniel Druckman, percussion. Highlighting the program will be the New York premiere of a major work in 7 movements by George Crumb, The Ghosts of Alhambra for baritone, guitar and percussion. Also included are New York and world premieres of music by Akemi Naito, Paul Lansky and William Bland, along with the second New York performance of David Leisner's Three James Tate Songs. Preceding each concert will be a discussion with the composers and Symphony Space Associate Artistic Director Laura Kaminsky on the Underscore series at 6:30 pm. | ||||||
