Australian-born Rupert Boyd is considered one of the most promising guitarists of his generation and is the recipient of numerous prizes, including the Andres Segovia Award from the Manhattan School of Music.

In 2004 Rupert graduated with First Class Honours from the Bachelor of Music degree at the Australian National University School of Music, where he studied with Timothy Kain. In 2004 Rupert moved to the United States to undertake his Master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with David Leisner. Rupert is presently in the second year of the Artist Diploma degree at the Yale School of Music where he studies with Ben Verdery.

In Australia, Rupert was awarded First Prize in the open duo section of the Australian National Eisteddfod (2002), Second place in the ANU Chamber Music Competition (2002) and Second Prize in the Chamber Music section of the Australian Guitar Competition (2004). In 2003, he recorded a recital for the Australian Broadcasting Commission's Classic FM Young Australia series, which was met with high acclaim when broadcast nationally in April 2004.

Since moving to the United States, Rupert has given numerous performances at one of New York's most prestigious classical music venue: Bargemusic. He has also given performances at the New York City Classical Guitar Society, The Hamptons Guitar Festival and The 92nd Street Y. In addition to the Andres Segovia award from the Manhattan School of Music, Rupert was a winner of the Lillian Fuch's Chamber Music Competition and Winner of the Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition, which resulted in a performance of Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with orchestra, conducted by Lawrence Leighton Smith.

Rupert has performed in public masterclasses and received enthusiastic praise from guitarists of international reputation, including: Pepe Romero, Manuel Barrueco, Elliot Fisk, David Russell, Maximo Diego Pujol, Sharon Isbin, Remi Boucher and Pavel Steidl.

Rupert is currently recording his debut solo CD, which he plans to release early in 2008.
