For our May meeting, we will be honored to have with us the legendary jazz guitarist Gene Bertoncini. The New Yorker described him as "an affecting, highly original guitarist who moves easily back and forth between classical and jazz guitar." He is an eloquent and versatile improviser who has played with an extraordinary range of great musicians, including Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, Wayne Shorter and others. He teaches at the Eastman School of Music and William Patterson University. Two years ago, he gave a wonderful talk to the NYCCGS on his approach to the guitar. This meeting will be a great opportunity to learn from one of the great masters of the fingerboard.
